Loving Like Jesus

January 14, 2018

Jesus' followers are called to live out a godly type of love. When we have received the costly, sacrificial love of Jesus, we are free to give this away lavishly to others.

Scripture: Matthew 5:33-48

Heart-Level Obedience

Jesus explains how he fulfills the Old Testament law in a way allows us to follow him with a heart-level obedience, an obedience that is only possible through the gospel.

Scripture: Matthew 5:17-32

The Blessed Kingdom

December 31, 2017

As Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount, he shows us who is truly blessed and happy, and it is not whom we would expect. Jesus' God-centered vision changes what we long for and what we give away.

The Two Advents

The only true hope we can have in the world is found in Jesus' coming to the earth, in his First Advent, which we celebrate at Christmas, and in his Second Advent, when he will come again.

Announcing Jesus

November 19, 2017

The most important question we must answer is who Jesus is, because all that Jesus has ever said or done depends on his identity. God wants us to be so clear as to who Jesus is that he introduces Jesus through others and then tells us himself.

Scripture: Matthew 3

When Jesus came to the earth, he was entering hostile enemy territory. Yet he came so that we could be brought into his new kingdom, the kingdom that alone will stand in the end.

Scripture: Matthew 2

Glory to God Alone

October 29, 2017

The whole world is intentionally designed by God to be a theater for the display of his glory. Every part, from the Fall on, leads to the immeasurable pinnacle of the glory of the grace of Jesus Christ. In this grace of Jesus, we find salvation and our greatest joy.

Scripture: Ephesians 1:3-14
